Lymphatic Drainage Massage (Lymph Massage)
Injury and illness impact circulation in the body, leading to a buildup of fluid and toxins. To heal, optimal function of the immune system is required. Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) can improve function of both the circulation and the immune system.
MLD is a gentle non-invasive, hands-on treatment designed to assist the flow and drainage of lymphatic fluid involved in all types of swelling; resulting in significant swelling reduction.
How it works
The lymphatic system is a very important part of the body's immune system. It carries nutrients to cells and eliminates metallic waste, toxins and excess fluids from the body. When, however, congestion sore inflammation occurs within the system, the lymphatic obstruction occurs creating fluid retention and tissue swelling/bloating, meaning toxins and waste remain. In some cases it can go into severe swelling which is known as lymphedema. Every one of us will retain toxins due to environmental exposure, as well as from foods, drinks and medications that we put into our bodies, and the products and chemicals that we put on our skin.
MLD/LDT, is a specialized area of study and certification. It is used pre and post-op for surgery, for cancer patients, and is an absolute “aesthetic wonder treatment.”
BenefitS of working with a certified lymphatic therapist
MLD Therapy produces significant results in the following conditions:
Acute sports / orthopedic injuries and after surgery
Arthritis
Autoimmune conditions
Cancer
Chronic pain
Dermatological conditions, including acne, burns, and ulcers
Lipodema
Pre- and post- plastic surgery
Venous insufficiencies
Research confirms the following effects:
Analgesic - Effectively utilized for pain reduction
Immune stimulation- Hastings neutralization of circulating pathogens
Improves skin healing
Increases lymph production
Promotes healing by breaking down harmful bacteria, chemicals, and waste
Increases lymphangiomatosis- improves circulation of lymphatic fluid increase venustus return promotes return of blood flow into the circulatory system with filtration of harmful substances out of the body
Parasympathetic stimulation facilitates the parasympathetic nervous system which is beneficial in recuperating from chronic disease
Reduced the risk of blood clots DVT/SVT
Reduction and prevention of fibrosis and adhesions
Soothing - calms nervous system and reduces over-activation of muscles
